Global COVDI-19 Epidemic

Presidential Directive on COVID-19 | March 18, 2020

Following H.E Y.K Museveni's March 18, 2020 Nation Address, he issued directives intended to curb the spread of the COVID-19 Corona Virus in Uganda following its devastating impact on the entire world interms of deaths and economy breakdown. It has caused thousands of deaths world wide notably in China, Italy, Iran, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, South Korea, and in Africa Egypy, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria, South Africa and our neighbours Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan and DRC.
The President in his directives issued a number of measures, but notably was a ban or suspension on mass gatherings for a period of 32 days as crowding being one of the speedy ways of spreading the virus.

Hence, the Management of UBTS, has to effect the President's directives by suspending her public blood donation drives country wide the 32 day-period nation wide as the Governemnt is doing whatever is possible to curb the spread of this global to Uganda.
Our dear blood donors, Blood stocks have reduced due to COVID-19, our Blood Donation Centres are open countrywide, that's NAKASERO, MBALE, MBARARA, FORTPORTAL, ARUA, MASAKA,GULU, HOIMA, JINJA, LIRA, SOROTI, KITOVU,KABALE, MENGO,AND RUKUNGIRI.

Signs and sypmtoms of COVID-19 include:
Fever
Running nose (Flu)
Cough
General Weakness
Difficulty in breathing if the patient develops Pneumonia
Sore throat
Nausea and vomiting
Nasal congestion
Diarrhoea

Transmission of COVID_19
Air through coughing
Touching a contaminated surface
Stay home, only make any movements if necessary.

UBTS reminds you that it's easy to prevent catching COVID-19 virus by doing the following:
Sanitize/Wash your hands frequently with soap and clean water for at least 20 seconds.
Avoid crowded places like Taxi parks, shopping malls, banks, restaurants, markets, public gatherings especially if you present flu and cough signs and sypmtoms.
Avoid any body contacts like touching, handshakes, hugging.
Stay home, only make any movements if necessary.
Avoid public transport means like taxis,buses, trains
Cover your mouth while coughing.
